LOCKDOWN
A Poem
Forty days of lockdown
Gave me time to reflect upon
This time we are all going through
This desolate path we walk upon
As I delved deeper
I met something strange
Something so perplexing
That makes me feel ashamed
This Pandemic we cognize
This rampant we fear
Is caused by no one else but us
At last, it is clear
We treat ourselves as Royals
The Imperials of this Earth
We do not care for what
Has kept us in this world
Mother Nature, innocent animals
And Chirpy little birds
Made us their friends
Who betrayed their trust
This world belongs to them
As much it belonged to us
We encroached their homes
While they co-existed with us
We became so selfish
And broke the sacred bond
We sink in our sins
Even the devil was regretful upon
So let us not waste more time
And save what is precious to us
Rise above our greed
Before it engulfs us
We confess our sins and mend our ways
Let us stand together as one community and one race
As this day was meant to come
To realise what we actually have become
So hey! Wait for a minute
And dive inside your thoughts
For you have fourteen more days
To try and correct the cause
